We are now going to learn about persuasion and argument.

her voice is kind yet it contains power. with her voice she can either melt hearts or break them. I agree with this quote because like everyone knows, the kindest people can still break your heart.
Henry David is saying that if you are nice about something that you want, it is more powerful than being aggressive about something you want. I agree with his quote because when one is nice they are more likely to get what they want. If you are aggressive people won’t want to do things for you and therefore you will be disappointed.
Anyone can act and persuade with violence, but it takes someone truly powerful to speak softly and use kind words to persuade someone into doing something. People will usually look to the quick route, even if it means others getting hurt. It’s rare for someone to put time and effort and patience into getting their way.
This quote is arguing that actions do not speak louder than words. I disagree with this quote because I feel that more people respond to force than gentle persuasion. I don’t feel this is right, but unfortunately it is human nature. Actions need to be taken and consequences need to be put into place in order for someone to see the other side of an argument,understand why they are wrong, or truly know how the other person feels. Sometimes actions can help someone to realize the point through examples. Perhaps force is not exactly necessary, but some form of action is.
I agree with this quote because many people use force and even violence to try and get what they want and believe they will achieve because of the power they think they have. Yet, people who use kindess and are calm, have way more ability to achieve what they want and be more successful in life.
I feel this quote means that persuasion is more effective than force. Force can achieve the same end as persuasion, but persuasion is more useful because it sways the audience to agree while not making the audience feel forced to agree. This quote reminds me of the saying, “The pen is mightier than the sword” in the sense that diplomacy is stronger than force. Furthermore, I think as long as Thaw is a strong as Thor then this quote has grounds, but if Thaw’s persuasion isn’t as strong as Thor’s force, I don’t think it will be as effective.
This quote shows that one person is more powerful than the other one. Like the quote says, Thaw is more gentle but more powerful even though Thor has his hammer. I agree with the quote because I believe her words and gentle persuasion are more powerful than the actions of Thor. Many people act with violence, but the real power shows when someone is persuaded or convinced by words. It takes time and focus to persuade people with just words.

Whether its helping someone and doing something for them that is what makes a bigger impact than just telling them something that you could just say to make them feel better. This quote tries to tell people that even the nicest people can hurt you.
This quote infers that the persuasion of a gentle woman is more powerful than that of the persuasion of one of the most powerful men known, the mystical creature Thor. This quote implies that gentle persuasion is much more powerful than persuasion by violence or brute force. I find the quote to be true as I feel more obligated to do something when asked nicely than when being told I must do something in a malicious manner. I do believe that kindness is more powerful than aggressiveness in many cases.
This quote describes the powers of Thaw and Thor, how Thor has the ability to only break things and Thaw has the ability to persuade people. The author of this quote is basically trying to say that Thaw and her ability to persuade is more powerful than Thor’s ability to only break things. I believe that there is truth to this idea because if someone was to use violence and destruction as their only option to handle situations, then that would leave one side of the situation angry and hurt and this may cause them to seek revenge. Whereas the power of Thaw allows for reason and persuasion and if one side is able to be persuaded, things would be more peaceful and there would be no feelings of hatred and revenge.
Thoreau wishes to stress the advantage that diplomacy and charm have over brute force and violence. Thoreau is certainly correct in his statement, because persuading an opponent will not only eliminate competition but also possibly add a supporter to one's cause. However, by using force and strength, the opponent is simply eliminated without having them join a cause.
The quote says that slow persuasion can be more powerful than the most powerful object in the universe, Thor's hammer. The hammer breaks things, while Thaw does not. I think the message of the quote is that asking nicely or talking to others with respect, is more effective than violence or aggression when addressing a situation. I agree with this because people are more likely to agree to something when they are asked nicely, instead of being forced into it.

Good art can leave someone inspired, and art breaks down to logic and creativity. Art is more impactful than any force in the world. People admire art. They are inspired by it too. I agree with Thaw and her “gentle persuasion”. Persuasion along with deductive reasoning are both arts, because you need to practice to get better. You can persuade anyone through art. All it takes is a bit of confidence, creativity and one logical statement.
